The online school helps broaden student course options from 7,000 miles away
ARLINGTON, Virginia – Blue Ridge International Academy enrolled its first two South Korean students this July. Ninth-graders at Global Vision Christian School (GVCS) in Eumseong, Chungcheongbuk-do will take freshman English classes through the American-based online school.
The GVCS school counselor found Blue Ridge International Academy online after the students discovered they could not recover the English credit they needed at GVCS over the summer. The counselor was impressed by the Academy’s triple-accreditation and 24/7 availability.
“This is very beneficial because of the time zone that we are in,” said Kevin Arndt, curriculum director at Global Vision Christian School. “It allows our students to work when most of the U.S. is not at work.”
Within days, the students were registered and ready to begin classes. Upon successful completion of the course, the credit will be transferred back to Global Vision Christian School.
“That’s what’s great about our virtual school,” said Greg Eckles, educational director for Blue Ridge International Academy. “We’re able to change students’ lives -- even from 7,000 miles away.”
These students are the first two South Korean students to enroll at the online school.
“When we say we’re impacting education around the world,” he said, “we mean it literally.”
